PhD in Petroleum Engineering: Senior/Principal Engineer Oil Spill Preparedness

As part of TPD, Technology Excellence (TEX) is the group's technology competence centre and has the following responsibilities; provide technical expertise and technical solutions to project development, business development and operations, provide support to line through production support centers, run the HSE competence centre to develop and globally deliver expertise, tools and services, drive broad technology implementation, drive the corporate technology strategy process, execute PO tasks within Petroleum technology and IOR, execute PO tasks within Plant operation and maintenance, define global technical standards based on international standards, deliver on strategic technology projects.

The HSE Competence Center's main responsibilities are to develop and globally deliver expertise, tools and services within HSE performance and risk assessments, Environmental technology, Impact assessment, Occupational health, Working environment technology, Safety technology, and Flight safety. The HSE Competence Centre has the responsibility for the HSE discipline ladder, professional HSE networks, best practice, governing documentation and quality control according to corporate HSE requirements.

The Environment and Impact Assessment sector in the HSE Competence Centre includes the units Environment Technology and Impact Assessment. The department delivers world class environmental expertise, tools and services to make high environmental standard a competitive advantage in line with the goals of HSE Competence Centre.
Tasks
  • We are now seeking dedicated and motivated persons with professional skills within Oil Spill Preparedness
  • You will provide professional advice and support to assure the minimization of environmental impact of our operations, a thorough identification and evaluation of environmental risks, and adoption of the necessary preventive measures to obtain excellent oil spill preparedness in all of Statoil's activities
  • You will be working in the Environmental Technology department, and we expect you to contribute to our positive working environment
  • Tasks may differ depending on competence and experience
  • Conduct and follow up environmental risk and oil spill contingency analyses, assessments and plans
  • Assess and follow up the development of oil spill response technologies, internally and externally
  • Cooperate with and follow up external contractors and stakeholders within oil spill preparedness
  • Contribute to the further development of Statoil's functional and technical requirements
  • Represent Statoil in external task forces and fora on request
Qualifications
  • Master's degree/ PhD level
  • Experience within oil spill preparedness or related discipline, with a strong understanding of relevant rules and regulations
  • Technology competence is desirable
  • Work experience can compensate for lack of education
