About the department
The department consists of two technical groups, Seismic and Reservoir Technology.The Seismic group concentrates on the development of new methods for processing seismic data.Activities within Reservoir Technology include reservoir simulation and laboratory measurements, together with mathematical modelling and analysis of reservoir processes and phenomena. The focus is on improved oil recovery by means of gas injection and WAG, especially using CO2. The other main activity in the department is related to CO2 storage.Being part of a larger institute we are developing integrated solutions in co-operation between the Seismic Group and the other departments at SINTEF Petroleum Research. In addition we co-operate with the department of Petroleum Engineering and applied geophysics at NTNU (Norwegian University of Science and Technology), thus offering membership in a large and active reservoir community at SINTEF/NTNU in Trondheim. Our work is project-oriented applied research for leading companies in the petroleum sector. This makes us a unique partner operating between academia and industry.
