Salary Range: £26,580 - £38,730 per annum (Research Associate)

Salary Range: £35,680 - £46,970 per annum (Research Fellow)

Minimum Starting Salary is £51,870 per annum (Reader)

Major long-term funding (10 years) by Qatar Petroleum and Shell International through the recently established Qatar Carbonates and Carbon Storage Research Centre (QCCSRC) is enabling Imperial College London to expand significantly its research into Clean Fossil Fuels - aimed in particular at improving the energy efficiency of oil and gas recovery closely coupled with reducing greenhouse gas emissions through advanced carbon capture and storage technologies. The Centre is located in the Faculty of Engineering which was rated the top Engineering Faculty in the UK in the 2009 Research Assessment Exercise.

Imperial College in now inviting applications for up to 10 Research Associates/Research Fellows/Readers, as part of the first phase of this ten year programme. Posts will be held in the Department of Earth Science and Engineering and/or the Department of Chemical Engineering. Appointments will be made for an initial period of 3 years but extensions of term may be possible in future phases of the programme.

The work will be carried out in close collaboration with Shell and Qatar Petroleum. Applicants with an understanding of the oil and gas industry in Qatar are particularly welcome. Candidates should have a relevant PhD (or equivalent) and preferable expertise in 1 or more of the above areas. Applications will be considered from both candidates with recent doctorates (or equivalent) and more experienced researchers. All researchers will work in multidisciplinary teams in the QCCSRC and have close contact with the Energy Futures Lab and the Grantham Institute for Climate Change.
