Post-doctoral opportunity

A post-doctoral researcher position is available at the International Research Institute of Stavanger (IRIS), partly owned by the University of Stavanger, with the industry-funded consortium project, Caribbean Basins, Tectonics, and Hydrocarbons (CBTH) led by The University of Texas at Austin. The position is for one year, renewable for another year, starting in January 2009.

The CBTH project involves a GIS-based synthesis and interpretation of geologic, seismic and well data from northern South America.

Experience supported by academic publications will be considered in the following areas: subsurface interpretation of seismic and well data using Landmark and/or Petrel-based workstations, quantitative subsidence analysis using wells, 2D flexural analysis and basin modeling, quantitative structural restoration of geologic and seismic data, ArcGis, database management, and regional geologic and tectonic integrations. Excellent communication skills are expected as the candidate will contribute to and author reports, presentations and publications.
