The University of Stavanger invites applications for 5-10 three-year PhD Fellowships at the Faculty of Science and Technology.

People with strong academic background in any of the areas mentioned below are encouraged to apply.

· Information Technology


· Offshore Engineering


· Petroleum Engineering


· Risk Management and Societal Safety

To be evaluated for the positions applicants must have earned a Master of Science/-Technology or possess equivalent qualifications which could provide a basis for successfully completing a doctorate. Students who complete their master degree in the spring of 2009 are encouraged to apply. In order to be considered the applicants must have an average grade of B or better. The PhD Fellows must be able to work both independently and as team member, and be creative and innovative. A good command of both oral and written English is required.

The selected candidates will be admitted to the PhD program at the University of Stavanger with an agreement to complete the PhD within the duration of the scholarship.

The program will mainly be carried out at the University of Stavanger, with a potential period of study abroad at a recognized and relevant university or research centre.

The PhD Fellows are salaried according to the State Salary Code, l.pl 17.515, code 1017, LR 20, ltr 45, of NOK 353.200 per year.

The positions give automatic membership in the Norwegian Public Service Pension Fund, which provides favourable retirement benefits. Members may also apply for home investment loans at favorable interest rates.
