Basin Modelling Department seeks

Research Scientist

The Department:

The Basin Modelling Department consists of a dynamic, interdisciplinary research team working on challenging projects to generate new technologies for improved oil and gas exploration. The department has a staff of 12, of whom 10 are research scientists.

The position:

We are looking for ambitious and innovative scientists who are able to perform challenging research and development projects as well as consultancy work, and have particular interest in mathematical modelling of geologic processes as well as basin modelling and petroleum systems analysis.

The applicants should have a strong background in physics, geology/geophysics or mathematics. Key activities will include:

• Development and application of leading-edge numerical modelling techniques for exploration and drilling
• Application and further development of models for pore pressure prediction applied to exploration and well planning
• Petroleum systems modelling and prospect evaluations together with our basin modelling team

Knowledge and experience in programming and software development are important qualifications and oil company experience is an advantage.

Excellent communication skills as well as the ability to cooperate are very important. The successful applicants will be expected to work and think independently while remaining open-minded team players.
