Department of Hydraulic and Environmental Engineering,
ection for Hydraulic Engineering, NTNU in Trondheim invites applications
for a post-doc. position. The position is for a period of two years,
starting early 2009.

The position was awarded to our group based on the excellent
external evaluation we received from the Norwegian Research
Council. We want to use the position to strengthen the scientific
knowledge of our group by conducting high-quality research at an
international level. The applications will be evaluated based on the
scientific quality of the project description and the CV of the applicant.
Potential for international publications in peer-reviewed journals is an
advantage.

We invite applications from all areas of Hydrology and Hydraulic
Engineering. Within hydrology the focus of research have been
cold climate hydrology and development and application of
hydrological models. Within eco-hydraulics the applicant can be
linked to several ongoing research activities on modelling or field
activities. Sediment handling and dam safety are important areas
within our hydropower research. We also work on the effect of
climate changes on hydraulic structures and design strategies to
meet such changes. Our group is currently increasing the activity
in our hydraulic laboratory and applicants interested in laboratory
work are encouraged to apply. Applicants using our laboratory can
benefit from the availability of PIV instrumentation and staff skilled
in electronic measuring devices. Applicants interested in CFD can
benefit from close cooperation with our sediment research group
developing the SSIIM model, and access to multiple large high-performance
clusters for parallel computing,

Applicants should develop a maximum 5-page project description,
which should include a plan for publishing results. Applications must
also include a CV with information about education, degrees and
previous experience, including names of possible referees. Certified
copies of testimonies and documents must be attached. Applicants
have to have a PhD in an area related to Water Engineering/Science/Technology.

The appointment will be made in accordance with the current
regulations for Norwegian universities. The successful applicant
must agree to conditions that apply to public employees. A contract
will be drawn up regarding the period of appointment and
work-related duties. Primary residency in Trondheim is a prerequisite.

The position is remunerated according to salary level 57-64 in the
national salary scheme, gross from NOK 435 500 to NOK 496 100 per annum.
Post docs are normally remunerated at wage level 57. There is a compulsory 2 % deduction
to the pension fund.
