With an expected start date of 1 September 2009 or as soon as possible after that date. You will be expected to:
- Conduct independent and collaborative research in geomechanics.
- Attract significant research income.
- Lecture on courses such as the BEng in Petroleum Engineering and the MSc's in Structural Geology and Exploration Geophysics.
- Supervise undergraduate and post-graduate (MSc and PhD) student research projects
With an Earth Sciences, Engineering or Mathematics PhD or equivalent industrial experience, you will be well-organised, highly motivated, and capable both of independent action and work in a group environment. You will have a track record of applied research in subjects such as petroleum-related geomechanics, CO2 storage, waste disposal or natural hazards, but the main criterion is a willingness to work collaboratively with active research groups in both pure and applied geoscience.
