Postdoc position - Computational fluid Dynamics



The Geofluids Research Group (www.geo.umn.edu/orgs/geofluids) in the Department of Geology and Geophysics at the University of Minnesota, Minneapolis, invites applications for a postdoctoral associate position in Computational Fluid Dynamics with emphasis on lattice- Boltzmann (or closely related) methods. Knowledge of C++, object- oriented programming, parallel processing methods (MPI, openMP, parallel C), general-purpose graphics processing unit (GPGPU) computing, linux, and Matlab are highly desirable. We are seeking a highly motivated researcher who can work individually and as part of a diverse team consisting of geoscientists, computer scientists, physicists, and mathematicians.

A Ph.D. in computer science, computational geoscience, numerical methods, applied mathematics, or closely related field at the time of appointment is required. Review of applications will begin February 20, 2009, and continue until the position is filled. The appointment can start immediately and is renewable for a second year upon satisfactory progress.
