Comments The university has a number of these available from SFC. IPE bids for one. Fees element must be supported by an RCC/IPE award (IPE pays maintenance and UK-equivalent fees, ORS pays the difference).

MSc Petroleum Engineering Stavanger 2009

A bachelor degree in Petroleum Engineering is generally required.

However, highly qualified graduates from the fields of:

  • Mechanical Engineering
  • Chemical Engineering
  • Geological Engineering
  • Geophysical Engineering
  • Physical Chemistry

may also be considered. In this case relevant work experience after graduation of at least one year as an engineer in the petroleum industry is required. Applicants must demonstrate competitive academic standards.

Normally, the level of grades of those that are short listed is equivalent to a Second Class Upper Division or better. Applicants with a grade level equivalent to Second Class Lower Division, or lower, will not be considered for admission.

Please note that applicants who have completed or are in the process of completing an MSc degree will not be considered for a scholarship. The faculty's policy is to not offer financial support to or to prioritize admission to students under this category.

English Language Requirements
Proficiency in English is required of all students in Norway. Students who are not native speakers of English, have to document their knowledge of English. Please find detailed information regarding required test and minimum scores here.
